Business Profile

Karate (Shotokan) Sensei Bob Carruthers (7th dan) brings his extensive 30 years plus experience to teach primarily Shotokan Karate, but with a particular interest in self defence. Suitable for ages 9 yrs and upwards, all are welcome in this friendly class.

Classes are Mondays & Wednesdays from 7.30 to 8.30

Filipino Classical Arnis & Kyusho Having trained under GM Rene Tongson of the Philippiners (Abaniko Tres Puntas) and GM Angelo Balldissone, sensei Bob Carruthers has an extensive understanding of these highly effective empty handed and weapons oriented Filipino arts.

Classes are Sundays from 12 noon to 1pm

Hanbo-jutsu & Tanbo-jutsu The arts of the short staff and stick/baton respectively. Highly relevant self defence techniques for modern day life, taught in a traditional Japanese martial art. You will learn this alongside Iaijutsu

Classes for Iai/Hanbo/Tanbo are on Wednesdays 7.30 to 9pm

Iaijutsu (Japanese Swordsmanship) Iaijutsu is the art of drawing and cutting with the sword. You will also learn sword handling and combat strategy. Sensei Steve Chriscole (3rd dan Iai & 2nd dan Karatejutsu) has studied a variety of arts over 30 years and now specialises in weapon arts. With his extensive study and experience, you can be sure of quality instruction.
This is a highly disciplined art and requires extreme concentration and discipline. Hence its not for children, so only 17 and upwards only.
